Semiramis receiving word of the revolt of Babylon- Nicole Durant

The name of the painting is Semiramis receiving word of the revolt of Babylon and it was made by Guercino. Guercino lived from 1591 to 1666. According to a legend, Queen Semiramis of Assyrian was a persevering leader. She refused to comb her hair until she stopped the rebels with her army when she heard of the revolt. The painter shows the scene through strong gestures and the location of Semiramis and her maid. Guercino was one of the most dynamic painters of his time. King Charles ll of England had some of Guerinos art.
