CF

Edgar degas painted this on 1865 in France. This painting was made for a portrait for the morbilli family.  The artist created this painting by using oil paints on a canvas. this painting was made to show how the french lived at the time and things were dark for them.  The art is different from traditional art because thérèse has expression.  Earlier paintings had very little or no expression at all. I choose this painting because it was different from the one in the gallery, this caught my eye because she had a facial expression unlike the other paintings in the gallery. She looks concerned or shocked while the man looks like he is thinking or bored.  The painting uses mostly dark colors and the shadows look really realistic.
