The blown glass was a piece made in 1991 made by Stephen Rolfee Powell. Stephen Powell was born in 1951 and now lives In Louisiana, Kentucky . Stephen Rolfee Powell was in his Teaser Series and he named this piece "Manic Saturn Johnson." The Museam Of Fine Arts got this piece in 2011. The artist liked exploding the physedelic color and light. He also liked to put multiple pieces of colored glass together and contort during the heating and shaping process creating a fluid pattern. This was most likely used as a vase that you can put flowers in. When Powell was making this he stood on a platform a little higher than 4 feet and he would shape it with his assistance down below him. The vase itself is about two and a half feet tall. On the bottom of the vase where the water goes is a large ball shape part that narrows into a skinny tunnel up top where you would put your flowers in. The artists used mostly lighter colors. Some colors were pink, light blue, And light green. He mixed some of the colors to create other colors that are also very light. I think Powell made this vase to stand out and Make sure you could see it because when I saw it , it caught my eye.
