Matt Griffin- Man's Suit

"The Man's Suit" was made for a gentlemen named, Hamish Bowles who wore it in the film "The Great Gatsby." It was designed by Ralph Lauren (American) in 1967. It is made out of wool, cotton, plain weave shirt, a teffeta tie and nubock shoes. I think that this is  related to its culture by showing what the average man would wear during that time period when they dressed up, yet the color to the suit is pink, the pink signifies Gatsby's questionable past. I like this because it could be classified as art but it's really not an art object, It is a clothing style of the 70's and it's so popular because it is completely pink. Every part of this outfit is pink except for the shoes which are white. Today men's outfits are being redefined in color and more fluid ideas of design. I think it is interesting how there is  an outfit made out of full pink that is in a museum because it is not very common for any type of outfit to get put in a museum, never mind a pink suit.
