Sophie Guarino- the garden of eden

In this painting of Explusion from the Garden of Eden. This painting was made with oil on canvas. It was painted in 1828. It was painted by Thomas Cole who was an American, born in England. It was based on having displeased the lord by eating the forbidden fruit that gave them the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden. Cole told this story through landscape. On one side of the painting the trees and nature is healthy and on the other side the nature and the greens are all dark and dead. He contrast Paradise with the harsh, violent, external world. This painting was made to show the two different kinds of the world. On one side you can see everything healthy and shinning bright, this shows that this side is healthy and happy. On the other hand, the other side is dark most of the trees and plants are dead that shows the harsh and unhappy world. I choose this painting because the way the artist painted it was very unique. He showed how the world can be a tough and unpleasent place but then it can also be paradise and tropical with happiness.
