Haileigh Stathopoulos Bolsjer

Bolsjer
Haileigh Stathopoulos
This sculpture was created by a woman, from Denmark, named Gugger Petter. She made this to show different candies she had eaten as a child, as you can see from the name of this art called Bolsjer which is translated to "hard candy". She even made the different parts of this sculpture in different colors to show the excitement and joy from the candy itself.
Bolsjer was created out of newspaper. This newspaper is printed in color to achieve vibrant hues that allude to childhood happiness. Each candy printed in a different color to show an individual candy. It is woven newspaper and hemp.
Gugger Petter made this to represent the candies she had when she was very young, the candy was Danish candy and was made into a sculpture to show her joy for the candies she had eaten when she was a young girl.
This Danish sculpture caught my eye, from far away. I walked closer expecting to see a quilt because of the pattern. I realized it was a sculpture made out of newspaper and I was really interested in how it was done and why this certain piece was made. The reason this was made is very extraordinary.
