This piece of art is a painting of Paul Cadmus. Paul was particularly famous for drawings of nude male figures. Maybe he paints people that he idolizes or appreciates their work so he paints them. The artist who painted the painting was chuck close. Close had a spinal artery collapse in 1988 leaving him severely paralyzed. He is a photographer as well as a painter. He does photorealism and hyperrealism wich are the main styles he is known for. Close has worked with many styles, but it was his early airbrush technique that inspired the development of the ink jet printer.
Chuck had very artistic parents that fully supported his early creative interests. On july 5 1940 in monroe washington, Chuck Close was born. Chuck suffered from severe dyslexia giving him trouble in almost all phases of school work besides art. Close had a neuromuscular condition that prevented him from playing sports. When Close was eleven his dad died and his mother became ill with breast cancer. Chuck also became ill with a kidney infection that kept him bed riden for almost a year. At the age of fourteen, Close determined himself to become an artist after seeing an exhibition of jackson Pollack.
