Bust of Beatrice- Nicole Durant

A statue called the Bust of Beatrice was carved by Antonio Canova who lived from 1757-1822. The statue was made around 1819-1822. The bust is made of marble. The bust started as a portrait of Juliett Recamier. Recamier didn't like it, so he abandoned carving a marble version of her. The bust was instead carved to show an image of perfect beauty.
