This painting is called slave ship by Joseph Mallard William Turner. It is an oil on canvas, made in 1840. In the painting the slaves are getting thrown overboard and the dead and dying typhoon coming on. In this painting I had to look at it and imagine what was in the water. But when I looked at it in a different way I saw many other things in the water. I saw feet, hands and slaves in the water with chains on them. I also saw big fish that were jumping out of the water. This time in the painting was when slavery happened. This painting represents equality. Slavery is when the white people didn't think the colored people should be treated the same way as them, so they made them work for them. I chose this piece because are tour guide told a story about this ship, and I was interested in all the colors. The sun setting in the back round, then in front was, the ship throwing off the slaves, with big fish jumping out of the water.

This piece of work is called the Amiyose V, it was made in 1968, by Kay Sekimachi out of woven, nylon monofilament and plastic tubing. Sekimachi transforms our expectations of weaving using the loom to construct structural pieces woven separately on 8 harvests looms in a tubular structure with an inner core. The work appears as a form within a form.  This piece has no purpose to it. This work influences language because it shows how it is one of the pieces that is Made in America, but you wouldn't see anything like this in any of the Modern art exhibits. I chose this piece because I didn't know what it was because it has no figural shape to it it's just a piece of woven, nylon monofilament and plastic tubing. But this is why I liked this piece, it had no meaning to it.

This sculpture is called the wing by Linda Bengalis, an american sculptor of the 1960s. It was made in 1970, out of cast aluminum. Benglis defined convention by painting monumental sculptures explaining "there painterly and yet there dimensional... I do think of my self as a painter." For pieces like wing Bengalis poured liquid polyurethane that hardened, freezing a gesture. This sculpture is a big, solid aluminum and it weighs about 800 pounds, and is about 8 feet tall. This sculpture influences literature because it keeps you thinking, on why its called the wing? I chose this piece of artwork because it cought my eye as soon as I went into the room. When I looked at it it gave me a question. Well, what exactly is it? It was called the wing, but it doesn't look like a wing at all.

This painting is called The Bird Watcher by Amy Sillman. This painting is an oil on canvas used with pastel like colors. It was painted in 2004. Sillman paintings are intuitive messy and strange. Her color sense is carried by drips and slabs that seem spontaneous even though she works and reworks her paintings any time. She painted this painting to make the people look at the figures emerging from the simultaneously, chaotic and orderly surface to crowlike creatures purch to the right of a web footed figure with binoculars. Language influences this painting by showing how the people who look at this painting can picture this painting in anyway they want to let there minds read it. I chose this piece because I thought it was interesting that the painter, painted what made you think about the shapes she painted and what you think they look like and what they are, also i like the pastel colors she used to create the unusual figures.

This is a painting called The Expulsion from the garden of Eden. It is an oil on canvas. This painting is by Thomas Cole. He was born in England. Cole painted this painting having displeased the lord by eating the forbidden fruit. They give them knowledge good or evil. This painting shows how Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden by disobeying and diseiving god. Cole told the story through the landscape. He contrasts the landscape as paradise lush and tropical with a harsh and violent external world. Adam and Eve are almost swallowed up by their natural drama and seemed propelled by the the shaft of light that represents gods power. Religion influences this painting, because it shows the beleifs in gods power between the nature of the two worlds. I chose this painting because as the tour guide explained the story through the painting it seemed interesting to learn more about, also in this painting I like how on one side it shows the colors of nature with bright colors as the 'paradise' an on the other side it shows the colors of the darker part of the world and how there is a darklife on that side that is oppisite than the other. Language influences this painting by showing how the people who look at this painting can picture this painting in anyway they want to let there minds read it. I chose this piece because I thought it was interesting the the painter painting what made you thing about the shapes she painted and what you think they look like.

This shrine was made by Anna Mitchell Richards and Martha Silsbee Fund in 1937. This sculpture is also a shrine probably made for the upper class. It's made of charcoal limestone and is in the shape of a house. I picked this piece because I've never seen a shrine that looked like this one I've only seen one that had a post kind of like a back board or a wall post. It's not shown in the picture but all around the house is surrounded by many black and gray stones and rocks making it look very peaceful and relaxing. The roof of the house looks like a sort of roof that a tiki house might have because of the way the lines resemble bamboo. The designs on the sides of the shrine resemble little pictures of different people. I don't think that was meant to come out of the design but that's what I see when I look at it. Although, at the same time, it kind of just resembles swirls and a lot of different shapes and designs. I think today, that shrine would be used as a kind of dog house because it's way too small to fit a human, but it's also just barely too big to fit a dog.

Vault for the man by Pablo Serrano this was made to save people Serrano was making a vault a refuge for humans to rescue them. Pablo Serrano made this sculpture an abstract sculpture out of bronze. This sculpture was modern art and was about public ownership and that was what Pablo was trying to convey in this piece he was trying to show everyone stating what's right and stand up together for the same thing. The bottom of this piece is showing people being stubborn and then they slowly build up to be one and that was when they were sticking together and helping everyone/rescuing all the humans they could. I like this piece because it's mysterious it doesn't show right away what it is trying to how it's like not judging a book by its cover because this isn't something someone might pick just by looking at it because it's weird but that's what I like about it. This sculpture is weird it looks demented shaped different it doesn't show anything but it does it shows people not grouped together at the bottom and the it slowly shows them merging together. It's like a hidden story.

This clay sculpture was made by Julia Bradford Huntington James Fund in 1934. It is made with limestone and has tiny detailed pictures at the bottom of the limestone sculpture. If you look closely you will see tiny engraved pictures of what looks like dragons (beasts) and a horse with a carriage. This is my favorite artwork out of all five because of all the hard work and detail that was put into this sculpture with all of the details in the piece. I especially like how all the dragons go their own separate ways and are all different in their own ways. All the horses face the same way as the others even if they are a different design or a different look from the horse that came before it. The art on this sculpture was for a very detailed tombstone. I would bet this tombstone was for a regular old person and not any rich or high class person because it's very detailed and beautiful but there is not any gold or diamond or silver so it might not be for a higher class person. In the museum, this sculpture is used as a wall panel rather than a tomb.

Snow-Covered Pine Saplings by Pekka Halonen is a sculptured made in 1899. Halonen drew this picture because the soft snow on the pine saplings emphasize their fragile beauty. Halonen made this painting using tempera on a canvas and I wounder if he had to show any shadows or us different tempera to show different shades. The snow on the trees is showing that it's winter and it's cold out and the painting is showing the beauty of the trees after there is a snow storm. I chose this painting because I love the winter and the snow not as much as I like summer and spring, but I love how when your driving after there was a big snow storm and there was snow every were and icicles every and all the trees look like  amazingly pretty with the snow draped over them and little icicles hanging from the trees. You can still see a little bit of color throughout the slow because there is still one or two leaves left on the tree. All you see is snow every where it's like walking in a winter wounder land. Everything just looks so pretty with all the snow.

This sculpture called Star and Cross Tiles by the Denman Waldo Ross Collection in 1907 is really unique and interesting because of all the details. It looks like a sculpture that a Christian church might have because of the crosses that represent Jesus dying on the cross. All of the stars have that same design as do all of the crosses have the same as well. The sculpture looks fairly new because there is no dirt on it and there are barely, if any, chips on it. I love the details in the stars because of how they have faces or swirls and the crosses are zig zag or a whole bunch of different line designs and shapes the faces in the stars are so detailed you can see each of the little facial features included in the design. The stars are a little less detailed but are still very unique and wonderful. If you ever look in a Christian church and see all the glass painted window, this sculpture reminds me a lot of those windows. I love how the colors and designs all match together and make the very old sculpture look almost as good as brand new.

Interpretation to the portrait of José Luis López Aranguren by Pablo Serrano is a sculpture that was made after a Spanish philosopher named Jose Luis Lopez aranguren. There is no medium for what this sculpture is made out of. The religion is Spanish modern art and the philosopher was Spanish. The reason I chose this sculpture was because sculptures just look interesting for one and this sculpture is lopsided and a almost a scary face on it. The sculpture of the guy has a very skinny neck and a very big head he almost reminds me of a bobble head and how their heads are bigger then their body. I wounded why the artist made this guys head so much bigger then the rest of the sculpture. I figured he must of had a bigger head then average human beings. His ears are different too one ear is normal and one looks like it's been chopped off or burnt I wounded if he was in a war of some sort. Above the eyes it looks like he had stitches he much have got stabbed above the eye and had to get stitches all around the top of his eyes.

This picture was made by Keith McLeod called "Head and Chest of a Lion." It is called this because it's literally the the head and chest of a lion. Lions were found all over South and Southeast Asia. They're found at Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain sacred sites located in these areas. You can tell the sculpture is very old by its cracks and fade of color. The head and chest of a lion is very dirty and muddy which makes its color fade. As well as old and dirty, it's also a very unique and interesting sculpture. It's also very different because there aren't many other sculptures like it which  makes it interesting as well as different. When I first saw the sculpture, it was creepy and kind of gross because it was all chipped and i had no idea what it was. After I read the plaque it became more visible that it was supposed to be the figure of the head of a lion. The part that I didn't understand at first was why the lion had no mane and also why it has what looks like a mustache. The sculpture now that I know what it's resembles is a very cool thing to go back and look at.

Plus de Vin by Carlos Reis is an artifact that was also known as The Empty Flagon. This painting was made to show a end to a party in a village. The painting is Reis's best painting and his biggest. It's the way everything is captured into one painting and the way he shows everything. Reis used oil on a canvas when he made this artifact and he must of used different oils to convey different shades. Reis influence for art it's self was king D. Carlos. The reason I chose this artifact was because of all the bottles in the picture. I wanted to know why he used/wanted all the bottles in his painting. I asked my self what could he possible be trying to show in in this painting using so many bottles. I picked the picture and I found out he was showing a party in a village and I said to my self that makes more since why he chose the bottle because at a party you are celebrating you drink you party. It was cool to find out how he conveyed so much into something as simple as bottles. I liked how it was really hard to figure out what the picture was trying to convey just by looking at it, I would have never chose this painting if I new right from the start what the artist was trying to say.

This picture was made by Joeseph Mallord William Turner in 1899 called "Slave Ship". The art captured in this beautiful and tragic painting looks like a "dark and stormy night" with the waves crazed and the sun almost completely gone. In the bottom right, there is a human foot coming out of the water and to the left there are many other limbs coming out as well. It looks like the fish in the ocean are eating the human body parts. The picture is indicating slaves of the 1800's.  On a slave ship one night, the captain started throwing sick and dying slaves off the ship in order to collect insurance money that he could not collect or earn himself. When I look at this picture, I see a lot of different colors indicating a dreary, yet beautiful picture. I really love how the whole picture is dark and then there's one tiny part of the sun shining out off the back of the painting. This piece of artwork is really quite incredible, I think, because the painter brings out the tragedy in a beautiful way. He shows the drama with the limbs in the water while bringing out a true piece of artwork

Summer by Claude Monet is an artifact that was made in 1874. When Monet and his artist friends the painters Renoir and Manet went to look at work they made that got rejected be the official "salon" and they Argenteuil where they tried to perfect their artist style.Monet created this sun drenched medoew with lazy mountains in the back round. Paul Cezanne would say to Ambroise Vollard that Monet was an eye but by god what an eye. Monet's artifact is a painting using oil on canvas the style of Monet's work is french Impressionism.i chose this piece because it reminds me of a place I might go just to get away and think. It's and empty medoew with no one around to tell you what to do, your all by yourself your free for a little while. There's no one anywhere to stop you. I think Monet had found this place when he was trying to go somewhere no one would find him and when he say this place stranded with now one in sight he sat down and started to draw it and is beauty. The picture captures such a magnificent sight to see the medoew with the water in the back it looks like there are rolling mountains in the back round, the trees still have color on the leaves it makes the whole scene look perfect .
